This accident occurred at the Mid Delta Regional Airport in Mississippi when the wheels of a refurbished Boeing 737 dropped literally through the concrete taxiway. The aircraft had damages worth $1.5 million from the freak accident.
Geologists believe that subsurface processes, connected with the flooding of the Mississippi River, caused voids to form under the concrete. Accidents like this can hinder flight operations and be a danger to people, aircrafts and equipment.
