Safety with PPE

When it comes to hard labor around hazardous materials, safety measures need to be in place at all times. Anything can happen suddenly, so it’s important for workers to understand the type of danger that could occur and how to handle dire situations. Employers should ensure that all workers are trained on safety regulations and practices before working a dangerous job. One of the ways workers should be trained in safety is with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Equipment that is used to protect against risks to a person’s safety or health is considered a PPE. There are several categories of PPE that employers should continue for their staff of trained employees and technicians. Employers should first assess the risk that their staff will be taking on their assigned jobs. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, categories that PPE can fall in are the following:

  1. Eye and Face
  2. Head
  3. Foot and Leg
  4. Hand and Arm
  5. Body
  6. Hearing

Equipment used that could be considered PPE includes hard hats, ear plugs, flame-retardant clothing, and goggles. At G&M Services, we make sure that our trained staff is provided with the appropriate PPE when conducting work within the fields of Concrete Sawing, Drilling, FireStop, and Concrete Scanning.
